Advising & Support

Academic and career advising at IU Bloomington is just the beginning of your extensive support network

All IU students work with an academic advisor through the course of their academic careers.

Academic advisors devoted to your success are only a fraction of the support network available to you on campus. IU’s award-winning first-year programs—developed to help first-year students acclimate to campus and find their place to belong—are recognized as some of the best in the country. They’ll help you get a great start at IU. Other academic support services—tutoring, workshops, counseling—will be available to you during the length of your stay at IU.

Office of First Year Experience Programs (FYE)

Studies prove that students who are involved on campus are the ones who perform the best academically. They’re also the ones with the best resume experience. During your first year at IU, FYE will help you explore the many ways you can plug into campus life and find activities and organizations that best fit your interests.

University Division (UD)

UD is the academic home and advising resource for most new IU Bloomington undergraduate students. It’s where the majority of students start their IU journey and it's where you can explore academic options to build a four-year plan that reflects your unique interests and career goals.
