Solomon Mabry

Solomon Mabry taught English in Rwanda as part of his overseas adventure. “I would definitely encourage students to have a study abroad experience just because it’s really eye-opening to see a different culture and a different way of living. . . . Studying abroad takes you out of that comfort zone, and it kind of forces you to reinterpret the way you live life.”

Choosing a study abroad program

Where would you like to study? How long do you want to stay—a semester, a summer, a year? Would you prefer to live with a family, with students from the host country, or with other Americans?

These are just a few things you should take into consideration. You can earn education abroad scholarships through IU and other units, such as your school or department, based on financial need and academic performance.
