  • If you’ve ever been admitted to IU Bloomington or are considered admissible based on review of outside transcripts, a cumulative GPA of 2.3 in any completed IU coursework is required for intercampus transfer admission. The 2.3 must be maintained until you begin classes at IU Bloomington, or your admission may be revoked.
  • If you’ve never applied or received an admission decision to IU Bloomington, you will be notified how to submit your official high school transcript as well as any transcripts from other postsecondary institutions you attended. Once received, IU will review the transcript(s) and determine your eligibility based, in part, on future freshman and transfer admission requirements.

If you took courses at another IU campus, you will work with your academic advisor to learn how your credits will apply to your IU Bloomington degree.

If you took classes at another regionally-accredited university, have your official transcript(s) sent to us.

Once a transcript is received, it will take approximately four to six weeks to complete a transfer credit evaluation. You will be able to access your transfer credit evaluation via One.IU.

Here are a few important notes about transfer credit:

  • Only courses in which you received a C or higher will transfer.
  • While transfer credit from another institution may count toward your degree at IU, it will not count toward your GPA. However, the grades you have earned in courses taken at an IU regional campus may count toward your IU Bloomington GPA.
  • Individual schools and departments at IU determine how transferred credits will apply toward your degree requirements.
  • Courses for which IU does not have an equivalent offering can sometimes be transferred as undistributed credits. Your academic advisor will be able to assist you with how undistributed credits may count toward your degree.
  • Veterans may earn college credit for educational experiences in the armed services.

Learn more about how your credits from a regionally-accredited university will transfer by using our Credit Transfer Service.
