IU Bloomington is participating in the Indiana Resident Admissions program, a guaranteed admission path for students who earn the new Enrollment Honors Plus Seal diploma. Beginning with spring 2026 high school graduates, students earning the Enrollment Honors Plus Seal will be eligible for Indiana Resident Admission to IU Bloomington. You must also submit a complete application by November 1 of your senior year. Please see below for additional information and FAQs.
About the Indiana Resident Admissions program
In December 2024 a new high school diploma design was adopted for the State of Indiana. You can find information regarding the new diploma design through the Indiana Department of Education.
Per this statute, the new diploma requirements may first be available for students entering high school in fall 2025 and be required of all graduating seniors in the 2028–2029 academic year.
On April 2, 2025, Indiana Governor, Mike Braun, announced a partnership between the Indiana Commission for Higher Education and higher education institutions, including Indiana University, to offer guaranteed admission through the Indiana Resident Admissions program to graduating Indiana high school seniors who earn the new Enrollment Honors Plus Seal diploma.
The Indiana Resident Admissions program offers guaranteed admission to IU Bloomington for students who are on track to earn the Enrollment Honors Plus Seal at the time of application, remain on track through the end of their senior year, and who apply to Indiana University Bloomington with a complete application by November 1 of their senior year.
Indiana high school seniors who were identified at the end of their junior year to be on track to earn the Enrollment Honors Plus Seal diploma by the point of their high school graduation and have submitted a complete IU Bloomington application for admission by November 1 will qualify for the Indiana Resident Admissions program. Each fall, IU Bloomington will receive a list of students on track to complete the diploma in that academic year directly from the State of Indiana.
IU Bloomington reserves the right to rescind admission for students whose academic performance falls below an acceptable threshold during the student’s senior year of high school.
Additionally, students found responsible for academic dishonesty, for a violation of high school conduct regulations, or for a criminal violation are required to report the incident to the Office of Admissions. This information will be evaluated, and this review could result in the offer of admission being rescinded.
Each fall, IU Bloomington will receive a list of students on track to complete the Enrollment Honors Plus Seal diploma in that academic year directly from the State of Indiana. Students and/or high schools will not report the information to us.
Beginning on July 1, 2025, any spring 2026 high school graduates earning the Enrollment Honors Plus Seal will be eligible for the Indiana Resident Admissions program.
Yes, students eligible for the Indiana Resident Admissions program must still submit a complete application for admission to Indiana University Bloomington by November 1. Either the Common Application or Apply IU application are accepted at IU Bloomington.
Students will be required to follow the steps to enroll, including the submission of their final transcript confirming completion of the Enrollment Honors Plus Seal diploma and graduation.
No. While students who earn the Enrollment Honors Plus Seal and submit a complete application for admission to IU Bloomington by November 1 will be given full consideration for their selected intended majors, the Indiana Resident Admissions program does not guarantee admission to an academic school or major and does not ensure admission to the academic major of the student’s choice.
Your senior year performance is important as it is the final preparation before you begin your college career at IU Bloomington. We reserve the right to rescind admission for students whose academic performance falls below an acceptable threshold during the student’s senior year in high school.

In accordance with the Enrollment Honors Plus Seal requirements for Math Credits, the advanced math credits aligned to the mathematical modeling requirements for every course of study at IU include Trigonometry, Pre-Calculus, Calculus, Finite, or Statistics. If you are still able to pursue and successfully complete one of these courses, prior to enrollment at IUB, you would be eligible.
Students can use the curriculum requirements set by the IU faculty to fulfill the expectations of the Enrollment Honors Plus Seal diploma.
A student’s eligibility to complete the Enrollment Honors Plus Seal diploma is a condition of the Indiana Resident Admissions program, however a student who submits a complete application for admission to IU Bloomington will be fully evaluated for admission.
If a student is admitted to IU Bloomington through the Indiana Resident Admissions Program and does not complete the Enrollment Honors Plus Seal by the time of graduation, this does not mean their offer of admission will be automatically rescinded. The Office of Admissions will review the academic information provided as part of the complete application for demonstrated evidence of continued academic readiness.

Consideration for academic merit scholarships is not connected to a student's eligibility for the Indiana Resident Admission and students are not guaranteed scholarships as a condition of the Indiana Resident Admissions program. Any student who submits a complete application for admission to IU Bloomington by November 1 will receive the highest scholarship consideration.
Yes. If a student’s transcript shows a significant decline in academic performance in their junior year which suggests they may not remain eligible; their academic performance during their senior year falls below an acceptable threshold; and/or a student is later found responsible for academic dishonesty, a violation of high school student conduct regulations, or for a criminal violation, more academic information may be requested and/or their admission may be rescinded.
