Eighth and Ninth Grade

Explore your interests
You may have no idea what you want to do as an adult or maybe you’ve known since you were three. Either way, spend time thinking about what interests you now and how that could become your major in college—or your job in the future!

Check out colleges
Think about what’s important to you in a college experience and find options that will give you what you want. Think about how close (or far) it is from home, what majors it offers, costs, student life, the town it’s in—think it over then look for schools that have what you want.

Make the most of high school
Get involved in all kinds of activities that will help you meet people, build skills, and have fun! When it comes to planning your schedule, make sure you’re adding courses that are required by colleges.

Build good habits
Good study habits will be essential in college. Practice different study techniques and find what works for you, pay attention in class and ask questions, and talk with your guidance counselor. It will help you succeed in school and in life.
