Get ready to Explore IU with other future Hoosiers

Join us for Explore IU, an annual event for historically underrepresented minority seniors to gain an inside look at Indiana University Bloomington. For fall 2020, Explore IU will offer a new, virtual format that encourages you to explore the classroom, the campus, and the IU student experience.

Review our online modules at your own pace and then join faculty, staff, and students at a live virtual event to find out all about life as a Hoosier. Plus, after participating, you’ll receive a special Explore IU certificate!

Live event

The Explore IU livestreamed broadcast with current IU students and faculty from various academic schools and campus communities will take place on Tuesday, October 20, 2020 from 6:30 to 8 p.m. EDT. This virtual program also features recorded sessions that you can view before or after the live event.

Space is limited and reservations are required—but the event is completely free! After registering, you will receive a confirmation email with additional event information.

Recorded sessions

We are excited to see you on October 20! Before joining us then, we encourage you to complete three modules on Canvas, an online learning tool, by viewing our recorded sessions. You’ll receive more information and instructions after registering for Explore IU.

To join the Explore IU Canvas course, you will need to create a guest account and using the instructions below.

  1. Go to the Canvas website.
  2. Click on the link after “Need an IU Guest account?”: “Create one now.”
  3. Select “Sign up with email.”
  4. On the “Provide Your Information” screen, fill out all fields:
    1. Provide a non-IU email that belongs to you that you can access later.
    2. Choose a password you can remember so you can log in later.
  5. You’ll then see a “Verify Your Email—Email Sent” screen. Check your email for a verification email “SUBJ: Verify Your IU Guest Email.”
  6. Click the link in the message to finish setting up your Guest Account.
  7. You should see a success screen.
  8. Now that you’ve created an account, go to the Explore IU canvas course linked in your email.

FAQs

Absolutely! While we recommend completing the Canvas modules prior to the event—they’ll help you get the most out of the live session—they’re not required. It will only take about one hour to get through all of the Canvas modules, so no need to stress.

Once you create your IU guest account, you will receive a confirmation email that includes a link to your Canvas course. Once you enter the course, you will see the registration links and other relevant information.

IU has an amazing tech support team that can help you with technical difficulties accessing Canvas. You can contact them in several different ways—including through a live chat option.

No! In order to receive your official Explore IU Certificate of Completion, you must register and complete your own coursework.

Your certificate will arrive via email within 14 business days of completing the virtual program.

No. Admission to IU is based solely on the standards and requirements listed on our website.
