Level Up

Get ready for your student’s first year

The Level Up monthly series of virtual workshops is designed to show families and advocates of admitted historically underrepresented minority students more about what IU has to offer, through candid and honest conversations about a variety of topics. Join us to hear from dedicated experts and get your questions answered.

Workshops will all be offered virtually at 6:30 p.m. Eastern Time on the first Thursday of each month from May to August and cover the following topics:

Thursday, May 6: Supporting the First-Year Student

Learn how to help your student transition to college life, how to have tough conversations when they aren't living at home, and how to support your student’s mental health and wellness.

Thursday, June 3: Financial Management: Beyond Tuition—Financial Aid and Scholarships

Get an overview of how financial aid works and find out about financial management tools for both you and your student.

Thursday, July 1: Let’s Talk Safety: What to Expect on Campus and in the Community

Supporters, parents, and students will learn more about safety on campus and in the community. You will have a chance to ask the experts tough questions, learn more about safety alerts available to supporters, and much more.

Thursday, August 5: In the Margins

Learn about identifying and confronting implicit bias on campus. Participants will also find out about IU's rich community and cultural resources, ways your student can get involved both on and off campus, and resources IU has in place for addressing bias incidents on campus.
