Master of Information Science

About

Our M.S. in Information Science program—which is accredited by the American Library Association—teaches students how to work in the space where information, technology, and people intersect.

Students learn the best practices in the management and use of information and communication technologies with an emphasis on the socio-technical, cultural, policy, and ethical issues involved in ICT.

Our graduates earn an average starting salary of more than $62,000 and are hired by companies such as IBM and Caterpillar.

MIS students have the option to select one of five specializations, allowing them to focus on an area of particular interest:

  • Data science
  • Digital humanities
  • Information architecture
  • Information technology leadership
  • Digital content, curation, and collections
